DJ, was wondering if you would be willing to post a picture of a wood stocked Kimber 84 wearing a set of Talley QR rings? I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

I don't have Talley QR's on my 84M's, but I do have them on a couple 8400's:

I hope that helps a little................DJ

On my 7-08 84M I used the Talley Lightweights:

On my 308 Super America I used the Gloss Kimber Bases and Burris rings that matched the Gloss blue of the Bases and Action:

I even used a Gloss Leupold Scope to match. If I hunted with it much that would probably have to change Smiler

On a std wood stocked 84M I think that the Talley Lightweights are the way to go. The match pretty well (sorry for the mediocre pics) besides being lightwieght, strong and very reasonably priced.
The Talley QR's would be the way to go if you wanted to have an extra scope for the same rifle.
Whichever you end up with be sure and specify which mounting screws! If your rifle has a 2 position safety it probably has the older 6x48 screws......................DJ

DJ, thanks a bunch. It actually isn't my rifle, but a friends. It's a brand new select in 7-08 and the scope will be a Leupold of some flavor. Sorry. Big Grin I will probably end up going with the LW's and have owned several pair myself. I just didn't know if those "space age" looking mounts would look out of place on such a classic looking rifle. But on your 7-08, they look very good.

How does your 7-08 shoot?

It's first group out of the box was with inexpensive (at least in the US) Federal 140gr Fusions, I think it was about .950 or so for 3 shots at 100yds.
I've tried a few different loads with 120gr TSX's and 140gr Accubonds and settles on the 140gr Accubonds.
Looking back over my range notes, 140gr Accubonds and 49.0grs of H-414 gave me about 2925fps and 3/4" groups. 120gr TSX's and 45grs of Varget gave 1/2" groups but only 2975fps, 46grs gave 3065fps but 1 1/2" groups.
I may load up some of the 45grs and the 120gr TSX's for a light kicking load to let new shooters try but for my hunting I like the heavier bullet at near the same velocity.
Good luck on with your Buddies gun......................DJ
