I'm thinking that as part of my interest in tinkering on my guns, I should own a proper trigger pull gauge. My question is, whose? RCBS? Lyman? I don't think I'll be using it often enough to get anything totally bulletproof, Would the RCBS unit get me by? It is much cheaper than the Lyman. Any other considerations I should look at? Thanks, Super Bon Bon

If you are going cheap, use fish sinkers and a coathanger. Weigh the sinkers on your scale. for every hour in front of the computer you should have 3 hours outside

I have both an NRA weight style set and a spring operated, recording pull type. I prefer the weights just because they’re simple and can never be out of calibration.

I've got an RCBS Premiun Pull Scale. It works just fine and is accurate. I've checked against an NRA set like the one Rick mentioned.

I have a fancy calibrated unit at work. To check your spring scale you could keep a weight of known accuracy for the purpose. At home I use a fisherman's scale.

I have a Wagner Force Dial, and I really like it: http://www.davis.com/showl5.asp?L5ID=12&L4ID=49
