What is involved in converting the 1917 bolt stop/release in to a smaller Mauser style/look? Wanting to mill off a lot of the excess metal back in this area. http://www.facebook.com/profil...p?id=100001646464847 A.M. Little Bespoke Gunmakers LLC 682-554-0044 Michael08TDK@yahoo.com

Easiest way I've seen is the bend the spring back to contact the receiver. Then you can just cut away the receiver how you like. Don

Ditto Don's comments. This is how I do it. It's simple, looks good and works just fine. John Farner If you haven't, please join the NRA!

Will it bend without snapping or do you have to heat it and re temper it? Roger

Took care of it today although I did not bend it, just cut it off and cleaned it up. has plenty of strength to hold the lever in. Easy stuff. http://www.facebook.com/profil...p?id=100001646464847 A.M. Little Bespoke Gunmakers LLC 682-554-0044 Michael08TDK@yahoo.com

I have a Griffin & Howe Remington M30 (same action) that was modified the same way. Looks great and works fine.

I heat it up and fold it over, keep the heat localized and no need to retemper. It's just the stop spring, not the ejector spring. Don
