mark65x55Ruger action
Since I can't find a factory rifle like I want... I'm sorta, kinda thinking of having one built on an old Ruger tang safety action. I like the tang safety and the round shape of the bolt knob and thought not a big deal, it is CRF. Plus, as per Brown Precision's webpage, it only weighs 1.5oz more than a Remington. Thats what I know about these actions... what do you think are the pros and cons?

I believe the old Tang safety model was simply a push feed with claw extractor. Nothing wrong with it just not a CRF.
The actions were find. Only real complaints I heard was the barrels were hit or miss. Not an issue for you.

22WRFI have seen a few custom rifles that have had tang safeties added to them by the makers. If I am not mistaken they weld an extension on to the tang, and then use a button that is connected to a rod that connects to a trigger that has a side safety like the Timney Deluxe.

Mark,
The only problem I can see, and I'm working on making up one now, is the barrel. Ruger barrels
are quite a bit heavier than I like.
A wonderful non-gangerous game rifle can be made and you can go the whole route or just
partly.
New barrel:
http://www.itdcustomgun.comusing a Douglas featherweight or #1 contour
Stock: Bansners hi-tech (best ergonomics)
They don't make one for the short action(7mm-08),so I went with the Borden Rimrock stock.
Find original STEEL triggerguard/floorplate or
use the Moyer replacements...adl version possible too.
Trigger job or new Timney
Metal coated in cerekote by fit4duty.
Burris scope mounts. (much more sleek than Ruger)
Regards,
Don
