You need to get that rifle out of the gun vault and take it hunting!! Anyone who claims the 30-06 is ineffective has either not tried one, or is unwittingly commenting on their own marksmanship Phil Shoemaker Alaska Master guide FAA Master pilot NRA Benefactor www.grizzlyskinsofalaska.com

It's a sad day when the front bumper of the old hunting truck looks better than your rifle. ![]() ______________________________ "Truth is the daughter of time." Francis Bacon

Definately utilitarian. Reminds me of some of the M14's and 16's I saw and used 40 years ago.

![]() This is the original 375/404, designed by myself and built by Dwight Scott. The above target is typical of its shooting, whether I use 300 grain Barnes X bullets or as the one you see in the photo above, one of our own 300 grain Walterhog bullets. This rifle has accounted for several elephants, lions, probably 60 or 70 buffalo, and literally 100 of other African game animals. It works great, whether I am shooting an elephant at 12 paces, or an impala at over 400 yards. The scope is a Leupold 2.5-8X, in Dakota mounts - the rifle is build on a Dakota 76 action, just like the other one I have built. These two rifles go to Africa each year, and get used by several hunters. They both use the same load. And the same brass cases get reloaded each year. Last year was teh first we had to discard a few due to case neck splits - actually they were split last years, but, I just loaded them one more time to shoot in Africa and leave them there! Some of our American friends eyes almost pop out of their sockets when they see what we do with our rifles and ammo sometimes. I will never forget the look on Dwights face when he saw my loaded, but unformed, ammo for this rifle. We did not want to waste powder and bullets fire forming the cases, so used RWS 404 brass to neck it down to 375. The cases looked rather strange with a convoluted neck! "Are you going to hunt BUFFALO with these?" Dwight asked. "Yes" I answerd. He only managed "OH JEEZ!" Remington copied our wildcats, with very minor changes, and called the RUM magnums.

I think there actually might be a market for "broken in" looking rifles. Think about it, people by jeans that are worn out and torn, I personally have antiqued photos to get that worn look. We have all heard about the hunters that show up in camp with the newest this or that, expect the guide to kill their game for them etc. I think a lot of these guys would be happy to buy a used looking rifle to lend credibility to themselves. Is that a Jim Borden/Rimrock stock? What was the vehicle - at first glance I thought Land Rover, but the bumper don't look right. Pete If Chuck Norris dives into a swimming pool, he does not get wet. The swimming pool gets Chuck Norris.

The swivel balls are visible - its got the short drag link on the left hand side that would be for a right hand drive LR. Can't be a Defender - its got leaf springs. Series I/II/IIa/III - the front differential drain plug isn't vertical like all I've seen?
