So I screwed up and mistakenly overloaded a 110 25-06 and blew the hell out of a case and bolt (got 3780fps out of a 100g sierra in the process, whoops!) After taking a little walk to relax and reassembling the extractor I realized that the spring loaded pin that pushes the empty case forward for ejection was either broken or just pushed back into the bolt a 1/16 and not going to come out on its own. Does anyone know how to disassemble the bolt to get to the pin and spring for resurfacing or where I can find a schematic of the 110 bolt? I know its a lesson well learned but now I'd like the rifle back to 100%. Thanks.

I could tell you but my advice is either take it to a qualified gunsmith or send it back to the factory. Bolt heads are easy to change and they are cheap but with that load and those pressures you probably did a little more than just blow a bolt head. Let the factory check it out and save yourself the cost of ANOTHER lesson in humility.

Snowcat,

Just push the pin behind the head out and the whole thing comes apart.

One thing: when you re-assemble, the protrusion of the firing pin is determined by how you do it, so just pay attention.

You can get parts from Savage, or parts and help from Fred Moreo at Sharp Shooters Supply (419 695-3179 or SShooter@wcoil.com.

While you are in there, make sure you didn't change the headspace? HTH, Dutch.
