I am thinking of finishing a stainless barrel and receiver with Brownell's ALuma-Hyde.

After the first rings rusted, I but a set of Warne Silver Finish rings and bases on the rifle. I presume this is electroless nickel.

I would like to paint/finish it similarly for asthetic reasons.

Has anyone doe this? Will paint adhere? Did you roughen it first?

I would call Brownell’s and ask them. Warne also makes two different types of Silver rings. One is nickel plated CM steel (MAXIMA), the other is a sintered alloy material (MAXIMA TPA). That might not make any difference, but you might need to tell them which type you have, the CM steel ones have the levers and the others don’t.
