I've e-mailed the company and have received no reply. Can anyone tell me the price for their Rimrock unfinished blank and the name of a retailer (Midway and Brownells don't seem to sell them)? Also, anyone know of a finished weight and quality relative to Bansner and Brown? I'm having a P17 375 RUM made and I noticed that they now offer a P17 pattern.

Thanks guys!

$219.00 delivered for the blank. I have two
and think they are a best buy for the money
for a do-it-yourselfer! thumb Blanks weigh 20-26 ounces.

What I like best is that the blank has no finish
other than the black epoxy gelcoat. Mix a little epoxy, add some black coloring, and you
can make anything you do look "original". I
filled in the loading port area with black epoxy and recut it to my own taste just like a wooden one. Smiler

E-mails don't always work...try a phone call.
Joan Borden will usually connect you to the shop, where Mike will explain anything and everything! clap

snowcat, you filled in my question. My email has not been returned and one mentioned to me "are they still in business?". Looking at their stocks for my Rem. 30 aka. P-17 as well. Gonna have to give them a a holler. good call on the thread.

So you're going to restock that 30 you we talking about--great idea for your country. I'll likely whittle out a looker for this Enfield too but the blank I have in mind still has a year and a half to dry and, honestly (as much as I hate to admit it), for the kind of hunting I do a good fiberglass stock makes much more sense.

I really hope they're still in business as the only other fiberglass P17 that I know of is from MPI and I have been consistantly warned off that company...

Yes, they are definitely still in business. Try emailing jim@bordenrifles.com I emailed him on Saturday and got an answer within 24 hours.

These guys are in a whole different league compared to MPI!

snowcat, just got in touch by ph. and talked to Joan. They have the unfinished blanks for the p-17 @ 195.00 plus shipping. I am still "green" in this rifle home stuff so I am hesitant to say the least on what to expect. My mag well dimensions appear to be slimmed down apart from the drop look of the p-17. Mine holds 5 down instead of the 6 for the enfield. What that means in regards to me slimming down the belly and getting it to shape up is what throws me a tad.

I did buy a "plastic" some time back, a Carbelite, hate to say it but I think it is junk. Something I won't use-threw away the money-ha. Live and learn.

What would I have to do to get this p-17 to fit before I call her back up and give her my visa? She mentioned they can do a mold fit if they had my barreled action bless her heart but for 595.00 I don't think so.

Jeffe you can you are welcome to put your .02 feel free don't hold back or anybody here for that matter. Help the unlearnedSmiler seems like I am going for there stock.

thanks

Jay, you can be sure of one thing, if Jim Borden is making it, it is as good as they get. Bar none.

Is the mill working out O:k for you?

Grizz-
I need to talk to them directly to see how difficult it would be to fit their stock to a straightened floorplate. I plan to buy the blank so I assume that minor reshaping (with a rasp and finish sanding with paper)and filling with epoxy (you'll have to bed anyway and should be able to use acraglass for most of the work) should be no problem. These have molded in checkering so a good coat of automotive spray paint should be all that is minimally necessary to get the stock in working order--everyone I hear from speaks very highly of the product.

Bob-
I use the old girl at least once a week, for what I need it for, its working great. Bet you're chasing the weather south about now, have fun down there.

Hey, when you get it could you let me know what you think? A pic would be great, I'd like to see how they treat the belly on their standard stock.

It should make a great rifle for you.

I have given so many rifles away to the kids that I trust this will be my "carry all" Smiler, I like the way it hefts and points. Was able to pick up a Redfield 70R peep for the rifle to kind of get it to an "old" state.

No guarantees on a pic-something I must study to do but I will give er a try.

I'm not familiar with the redfield but some of the Lymans required you to relieve the stock slightly to fit it, again no big deal since you're buying the blank. I'm curious how the stock will work with open sites, whether the comb height allows that comfortably. I'l' have quick release rings on mine and use the scope for most work but would like to be able to use the opens comfortably also. If you can get access to a digital camera, e-mail me the pic and I'll post it for you. I'm jealous of your 30, they're really a great old rifle. I've had to pay to get my Enfield into the shape yours is in already, Remington did some of the important mods right off. You've got to wonder about some of the stories that gun could tell especially if its spent some decades in your neck of the woods.
