I have a few handguns that I want to strip the ugly parkerizing, I wonder what will work? I have a small bucket of thin muriatic acid(HCl) that I generally use to remove blueing, would that work?

Thanks

Parkerizing is zinc or manganese phosphate but it also produces a matt finish and a grey or OD color. What do you want as a final finish ? You can blue the parkerizing which will give a nice durable blue with matt finish. If you are not happy with the matt finish you will have to polish off the parkerizing.

Not knowing what finish you want to end up with, I would think you could bead blast these. I have had several done this way and then hard chromed with a matte type finish as the result. I have been very happy the way they turned out.
