Dentistbrno cz .458 lott stock
Hi! Just bought a new .458 lott brno cz 550 magnum. Like most I want to change few things. My question is: should I change to a classic MPI stock with glassbedding without horizontal stud(yes in europe they come without any recoil lug, just cheap wood) or just put one or two recoil lugs in the wooden stock and get it bedded? I´m searching for a durable solution.
PS: I didnt cut the barrel!

jeffeossoBed, cross bolt, and wrist pin the stock. Do a search on wrist pin, and you'll get some good finds. MPI stocks are horrid

DentistThanks! You dont like plastic? or do you talk about the mpi performance? I didnt find many plastic stocks available for the brno. I´m not keen on mpi. I also would install a laminated stock. but all 3 gunsmith I talk with just said :there is no plastic or laminated stock for bruno and suggested a custom stock. I dont want invest that much money just want a stock I can trust in and the original wood stock inspires little confidence.

loud-n-boomerIf you want a laminated stock, call CZ-USA and see if they will sell you one, since the CZ-500 American comes in one as an option. Then have the laminated stock cross-bolted and bedded.

Dentistloud-n-boomer:Sadly I couldnt get any information about the laminated stock. I ordered the brno nearly !!!one!!! year ago and I bought it at the national general importeur......
Thanks kabluewy. good link. When I called them they told me about 5- 6 month waiting time. No option.
jeffeosso: I finally decided to choose the old fashioned tuning you suggested. Today I sent following list to my gunsmith:
Change front sight to a small round and white one
pachmayr decelerator pad
put out rings and srews for the sling mount and fill the holes
polish system
overwork trigger and adjust it to 600gramm
wrist pin, cross bolt and glassbedding
Forgot anything?
I want to load 500gr woodleigh solids.
Maybe I will buy a leupold 1,5-5x20 later and mount it with warne rings.
Whats wrong with MPI, jeffeosso? While searching I saw saeed uses one with good results, maybe RIGHT NOW

asti: No problem at all. And thanks again for excellent advice to all members!!!

tiggertateMPI is fine if you order a drop-in or have them fit it. The man hours needed to do it yourself on a rough blank probably exceeds a good wood stock from a blank.
You might ask Brockman's about a drop-in laminate; I don't know if they export. I have one on my 550 Magnum and like it a great deal.

Oregon45Tigger: Do you have pics of your Brockman stock? How has it held up under recoil? I've been thinking of getting one for my 458 Win Mag

tiggertateThere are pictures on the link I provided. Mine looks just like that except to forearm sling eye. My gun has a barrel band sling swivel. It also comes with a nice metal grip cap that you can't see in the picture.
I optioned for Brockman to install a 3/8 " steel wrist pin through my grip because the 550 Mag has so much recoil energy; I don't think that would be essential with something as soft-shooting as a 458 Lott.
