I finally got around to fitting the stock on the taurus 22 rf pump to my kids, which consisted of wacking 3" off of it. I would like to fit a butt plate to it, but don't want to cut the original plate, though I suppose I could order a spare to cut down. Looking for suggestions for a simple butt plate material.

Paul, If this if for a kids gun I would make one out of a piece of sheet brass. It will hold up a lot better than a piece of rubber will. Of course maybe your kids are different than mine! You could also make one from sheet Aluminum, but brass will hold up and look better. If you are set on a rubber pad, I'd suggest the material they use on the cheap, paddle style snowblowers, the little Toro's. You could either buy it new (what I'd do) or scrounge one off a broken machine. The trouble with that is they are a bother to sand into a smooth finish, but it can be done either way. Alternatively, you can contact Grainger- www.grainger.com they have all sorts of stuff

Get a catalog from McMaster Carr they have sheet rubber noeprene from 1/16"-1" get this in firm (60 shore A) or hard (70 Shore A) firm is a little harder than a tire and hard is like a work boot heel. A 12"X12" sheet is about 10.00 or less depending on the thickness. Kerry

Paul... Did you forget that old stand-by...duct tape? The roll is in the garage, beside the dirty blue tarp, jerry jug missing the little bung cover(its got a willow branch stuck in it), and the mosquito head net with lots of big holes in it! Items no true Alaskan will be without. ~~~Suluuq [This message has been edited by Rusty Gunn (edited 01-05-2002).]
