I am looking for Savage barrel dimensions, a picture or drawing would be helpful.

How it attaches and what it looks like.
Thanks... Scout

I am not real sure; maybe I should elaborate here... I have never torn into a savage 110 series, and here allot of people use them for change barrel guns. I have a take down marlin, and it uses a socket, and barrel nut.

What I am wondering is can a Mauser action be some how worked to except a barrel in that manner. I have been thinking of making a threaded adapter to accommodate this. I dont want to make a custom barrel, I want to use already made barrels for ease of use. What would be cool, is if some one had a messed up barrel I could tear into..
So, what savage am I looking for, not sure.
Looking for possible options for a take down gun, switch barrel etc.

Thanks.. Scout.

Hi Scout. I think the easiest route for this is the Savage 110. A friend of mine and I are putting together a couple of switch barrel magnum long action Savages. The Savages can also be put together the same way as Remingtons if you don't like the nut. The nut system makes it easier to switch the barrels back and forth, though. Gun Parts and Brownells both usually have barrels, in various calibers. If that sounds like what you are looking for, let me know and I'll dig up the specs for you. - Dan

Is the barrel threaded? Is the nut a second lock? I was thinking the barrel slid in the reciever, and the nut locked it down.

Thank you Dan for your time.

Scout.

Scout if you e-mail me I can give you the dimensions for the barrel and threads. I may even be able to scan the drawing. Ken

Hi scout, sorry this took so long. sometimes work interferes with my life. Anyway, the barrel threads into the receiver on the Savage the same as on a Remington. Then the nut works as a lock nut. The advantage being that you can thread the barrel into the receiver onto a proper headspace gauge, and then tighten the locknut, and presto! Your rifle is headspaced. Take care - Dan
