Gentlemen, I acquired a Browning safari grade a few months back have been tinkering with it a bit. It is currently not scoped. With full house 500 gr loads at 2150 FPS + the recoil is pretty fast and stiff in this light weight rifle. I was considering adding a Pachymer decelarator and a mercury tube to tame a bit of the recoil however I really would like the tube in the forearm if possible. The rifle is already light on the front end and it might balance a bit better if the added weight was mounted a little forward. Is there typically enough room on the forearm to install a mercury tube between the barrel mounted recoil lug and the action? EZ

They make a small dia. tube just for rifle forends. Brownells has them.

It that's still too thick you could inlet some tungsten rods (very dense). I've never tried it but you could get a lot of weight in there with small diameter rods.
