i am debating whether to buy an aluminum bedded stock for my remington 700 synthetic stocked rifle. right now, it shoots 1.75 MOA. how much will an after-market stock help with my groups?

Even the injection-molded factory stuff can be improved. You might want to free float the barrel and try to bed it a little better to see what happens. If you get noticable improvement then you can assume with some safety that the investment in a better stock will help more. It would be a shame to spend the money first only to find out the group size didn't improve.

it might not improve the groups at all. a cheaper option would be to bed the action on what you have and free float the barrel. bedding material is only $18.00 at my local gunshop. the directions in the acra-glas box are very good. i'm not exactly the best wood worker or mechanicaly inclined person in the world but i have done three over the years with little trouble. all guns shoot much better.
