I have a Remington P-17 Enfield that was sporterized many years ago (I suspect in the '50's) with the rear sight milled off, and a few other touches added. Whoever did it knew his stuff reasonably well. I will slowly turn this into a large bore rifle over the next few years, one step at a time. In looking at the slot for the stripper clip to charge through, I can't decide whether to remove it or not. A local gunsmith said he'd do it for a nominal fee. Suggestions? Should the slot be removed? Thanks, Garrett

Depending on caliber, you will probably remove the majority (if not all) of the slot during the alteration for your big bore. Roger Kehr Kehr Engraving Company (360)456-0831
