will a 338 ultra mag be hard on barrels some of the loads listed in the reloading pages show 3400fps with a200gr nosler and over a hundred gr. of powder I would definetly use a bit heavier bullet and slow it down a little but will a guy get 1000 or more rounds through it before you toss that barrel. From my experience the .338 RUM isn't a major barrel burner, but at those velocities you will see lots of copper fouling. I run mine at 3050fps with a 250 gr bullet and the barrel looks fine with over 500 rounds through it so far.-Rob
