I always seem to have trouble re-assembling my Rem 1100, the barrel won't locate smoothly, had a good look and found the barrel was coming up against the fore-end support assembly, in the past I have broken this part (#92857) and am now wondering if i did by forcing the barrel into place, can anyone give me some advice on what i might be doing wrong and how to rectify my problem.l

If you are refering to a the Remington shotgun, are you locking the bolt back before you install the barrel? this might be causing your problem.

I've had alot of 1100's and 1187's and have never had a problem like you describe. I would echo the previous response though. Make sure the bolt is locked back before trying to insert the barrel. That way you are sure the barrel extension has a smooth path into the action and there is nothing on the magazine tube to stop it from slipping into place.
