M17 / P14 action question
Guys,
Is it much work to convert an M17 to feed rimmed cases such as the 303? Looking to build a rifle in a 303 based wildcat and P14s are very hard to come by, whilst M17s are relatively common.
Cheers...

get a p14 bolt (trust me) and mag box.. alter the rails, and have fun.

trust me, get the p14 bolt, it will save you tons of time and gunsmith $$

G'day Con,

yeah, it can be done, if you throw enough money at it!! I've investigated that path in the past, and believe me, it's costly... if you're going to use an M17, chamber it in a rimless case (257Bob or similar) and by the time you do that, (and grind off the ears) you may as well buy a factory rifle...

Thanks guys,
Reality is setting in and agree that a P14 is best or bugger it... there are perfectly good SMLE actions around for under $100.
Cheers...

I remember seeing P-14 actions on the Sarco adverts. Check them on line or give them a call. They were less than a C-note. It is a better choice than smelly.
