What are the probabilities of a 6.5x55 swede barrel being very accurate if it were rechambered to 6.5-284. I have a turk action and there is a swede barrel available to use or would it be better to buy a new barrel? Rad NRA Benefactor Member

I f you decide mot to buy the barrel, let me know. I might be interested. capt david "It's not how hard you hit 'em, it's where you hit 'em." The 30-06 will, with the right bullet, successfully take any game animal in North America up to 300yds. Get closer!

HerrMesser that's going to be a role of the dice. That answer will only be found in the doing. One concern that I would consider is that the Swede barrel has a long throat which might not clean up without setting the barrel back & I don't know if that military barrel can be set back enough. The long throat will not be a problem as I just might see what the heavy bullets will do. captdavid Email me at rmesser(at)woh.rr.com the gunsmith has three barrels a 21", a 24" and a 29". I am getting one from another forum for $37 shipped that has been cut to 22". Rad NRA Benefactor Member
