Loose Rib on Superposed

A few evenings ago during my last round of doubles for the season the top rib on my Broadway came loose. I talked to the people at Midwest Gunworks (listed on Browning's site) about the repair and refinish. It was made in 1960 before salt-wood. I was considering a refinish anyway but you can get a bunch ties up quickly. The repair, refinish metal and wood, and tighten the action if needed would be close to $1000 but it would be like new. What other reputable gunshops specialize in this type of work; I would like to check them out before I make a decision?

If you are the original owner of that gun, it has a lidetime warranty. Browning will fix it for free if it was bought new.

Browning would likely fix the rib, and if there is notable loosness in the action, they might take care of that, too. They wouldn't do anything about the worn finish, of course, although they may offer refinishing at the owner's expense. You'd just have to ask them.

Simmons, before they turned most of their attention to marketing cheap Asian scopes, used to be the "go to" place for shotgun work. They may still have a good shop. It wouldn't hurt to ask.
