I have a FS 550 7x64 that I got some time back, and I have been very happy with it. I was thinking about getting a FS 550 9.3x62, but a local guy here says the quality has slipped greatly.
Has anyone bought a CZ lately that is great or not so great? What is the consensus. I will have to sell the 7x64 to get the 9.3x62, and I don't want to swap something I like for a not so great rifle.
i just got the lux model in 9.3x62. i haven't shot it yet so i can't tell you anything about the accuracy but the wood quality, fit and finish are great. even better than my american model in 6.5x55 and it was good. mine did have a plastic mag follower that czusa has replaced with a steel one. it also has the c-clip setup on the firing pin but my bolt is now in the mail to czusa to have that replaced with the double nut system. i still have to get the stock shortened to fit me and i want to get the action bedded because the 9.3 is one of the heavier recoiling chamberings. my advice is to get one. i would, however, try to do it without selling your other one . i think a 7x64 and a 9.3x62 would make a pretty good pair. good luck...cheers...bud

I won't buy another one. The one I bought looked nice, but actually had a hairline split at the tip of the forend. Long story short, they would not ship me a new stock - I had to send them the whole rifle so it could be "bedded properly." Take off scope, package it up, go to mail center, insure it, etc. When I got it back, the slip showed 45 minutes to install the stock. It must have been more like 45 seconds. The stock looked like it had been checkered as a middle school wood shop project and the barrel channel was merely rasped out. The barrel was not free-floated like it is supposed to be, per their own ads. No response to calls or emails.
I bought a 452 in .22 WM a month ago, and it just plain wouldn't shoot - 2.5" @ 100 yds, with anything I tried in it. I looked at a .458 WM yesterday, and by comparison to their stuff of a couple of years ago, it looked crude and sort of 'thrown together'. I wonder if they're not becoming victims of their own popularity - they built a reputation of well crafted rifles, and are now getting sloppy while struggling to meet the demand?

Well, I guess unless I see one in stock I probably will not buy it. Don't see them in stock anymore, and a guy here in Austin says the quality has gone down since they separated from BRNO, and the prices have gone up. Oh Well, I guess I was lucky to get a good one.
The CZ rifles vary in fit, finish, safeties, floorplates, followers, etc. depending on when they were manufactured. Don't automatically assume that you are getting the latest one with all the improvements. Many shops and distributers have new-in-the-box rifles that were made in the 1990's, and still have 2 position safeties and such.
Well I must be the only lucky one then as all my cz's and I own 5 are great rifles and all shoot well.
I only have two with the c clip thing which I will get sorted at some stage. All inall I am happy with them and they represent great value. Maybe mine are all of early manufacture
