Jokes aside, guys, has anyone heard anything about Blaser having major problems e.g. ceasing production of the R93, recalls etc due to safety issues??

No recalls since the last - a couple of years back due to possibility of incorrect steel used in trigger pins. Production is going strong. Blaser just introduced a new over-and-under shotgun (F3), supposedly rather nice.

Check out the Blaser Website. Blaser is usually quite good about replying to e-mail, if you have further questions or concerns. The website has a contact address.

Thanks Mho - I guess time will tell. I know the R93 safety issues have been debated at length here and elsewhere. I'll continue to own a Blaser R93 for occasional convenience in travelling by air, but the vast majority of my other rifles are Mauser type.
