A mate is just getting his first deer rifle.
He's going to be a good hunter 3 shots, 3 deer, so far 100%.
We now call him "DocTari"

He likes the CZ 550 "Varmint" in .308.
We'd like to know what to do the trigger, as they are pretty heavy, from the factory.
Are there any upgrades?

And we will be fitting a silencer, So any comments on shortening a .308 CZ barrel would be appreciated.

CZ trigger comes standard as "set" trigger. Just push forward on the trigger when cocked, and it should go at less than 1 lb. But even that is adjustable to more or less.
Adjusting the primary trigger is also possible.

Specialist,

Is "Doktari" using the set feature? I love those triggers but have hunted for years using double set triggers in my Heym .270 and also have them on my favorite .22 LR. My 404 Jeffery (on the CZ550) has been adjusted to 3# and the set no longer works. But on my 7x57 and my .270 (both 550's) I haven't even fired a shot when the trigger wasn't set. Once you get used to setting those things it becomes as automatic as releasing the safety. I think they are a bad feature on a DG rifle, though. Just my 2 cents worth.

I have a CZ 550 FS in 308 Win That came from the factory with a poorly adjusted trigger. The set trigger though was just fine when engaged (as it came from CZ).Luckily the cz trigger is fully adjustable. The adjustment screws are identified in the manual. It sure didn't take long to adjust the unset trigger to just what I wanted.
I've seen posts here that have been on both sides of the fence about the CZ trigger. I'm on the "I really like it side".

Thanks Guys.
I think the gun will be ordered with a standard trigger.
As my friend is quite new to shooting, and a set trigger is just another thing for him to think a bout.
