Can you screw a pre-64 Win Model 70 barrel onto a G33/40, and if so, will it damage the G33/40 threads?

Heed the words of Winston Smith in Orwell's 1984:

"Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right."

Try to look unimportant. Your enemy might be low on ammo.

The reason I asked is that I saw a G33/40 for sale on the web with a pre-64 model 70 barrel screwed on it (257 Roberts). After a long look a the photo's, it looks like the barrel was set back quite a bit (enough obviously).

As for the Rigby project, my gunmaker has finally gotten a start on shaping the barrel. I broke my thumb in June, (the same day my daughter got brace$$$), and was out of work for a few months. Just had a run of bad luck this summer. I'm back in the saddle again, however. The Rigby magnum bottom metal that I got from Wisners seems to be a bit too wide (Fits 1917 Enfeilds real well). On the hunt again for bottom metal. I would really like to get some measurements from an original from the 50's era.
