I've seen several custom rifles from his collection. Each marked with the "RCS" mongram - usually on the trigger guard. ______________________________ "Truth is the daughter of time." Francis Bacon

I have seen photo's of his rifles in Jack O'Connor's books. I beleive he was a doctor in Alaska. Many of the rifles were factory engraved model 70's.

There was an article in the ACGG Journal, issue 91: http://www.acgg.org/issue91.pdf. Basically he was a surgeon in Wisconsin who comissioned a lot (400+) of rifles. It sounds like a few were used as well, in addition to being works of art. for every hour in front of the computer you should have 3 hours outside

Before Robin Roberts liquidated Cape Fear Outfitters he had a set of 3 Rifles that were reputed to be the best rifles ever produced by the Olin/winchester custom shop from the Smith collection. A m52 & 2 m70's they were really nice & well past my budget.

Morris Hallowell has a 300 H&H made for Dr. Smith for sale on his web site. He has some excellent photos of the gun that show the triggerguard and other engraving typical of a Smith gun.
