My son's Rem. 870 shotgun has a laminated stock. I would like to install a sling. This would require drilling into the stock to screw in the lower attachment for the sling. Does drilling into the laminated stock and then screwing in the sling attachment present any special concerns?
Thanks in advance

None at all. Just drill correct size pilot holes to prevent splitting as in a regular wood stock. Laminated stock material is harder than regular wood so pilot holes are a must. If you experience harder than normal effort to turn the screw, you need a larger pilot hole. Good idea to lube the screw threads with wax or stock oil.

After the job is done, you can put release agent on the stud/screw part and epoxy the hole. Screw the stud in and let it set up -- you get a nice solid result. (Did this in a couple older stocks that had wallowed out a bit.)
