Could I rebarrel a Winchester model 70 classic sporter lt to 300 H&H? What I'm asking is, is the model 70 classic sporter action lenght long enough to work with the 300 H&H case lenght. Mark

Mark, you'd really need to start with a Model 70 that was originally a 7mm STW, .375 H&H, or .300 Weatherby. Winchester Model 70s in these calibers have extended receiver cutouts, plus a longer magazine box, follower, and a shorter bolt stop to accomodate the longer cartridges. The .300 H&H has the same action requirements.

Mark, I agree with Allen. The simplest way would to start wtih a rifle already set up for the longer rounds. But, for about $35 you can buy a new magazine box, bolt stop and ejector. The port will be just a little shorter but, I've never had a problem with ejection.

The newer classic model 70's in 375HH and other magnums use a longer action. Not just a modified action that the pre-64's are.
