there's a cheap IMPLEMENT --not a long term solution-- to do this, especially "in the field" as it where...

take a piece of 1.5 or 2" angle iron
drill, from INSIDE holes at your proper spacing

on the edges, drill holes for a ubolt tie down


get it yellow hot, throw it in oil

POW! it is a LITTLE hardened

and would be about a "perfect" african gunsmithing tool.. cheap, easy, somewhat durable..

and basically the same thing as midway is offering, for about 5 bucks,
