.300 Savage. Easy conversion .30 cal with moderate pressure. Forming brass only takes sizing and trimming .308 brass. You might even have factory ammo available. Brownell's even has threaded barrels for the 96.

If you are dead set on a .30-30, the easy route to get it to feed would be to fit an existing single stack mag inside the Mauser magazine box. I have a notion that the Savage 340 magazine could be made to work, but I don't have one handy.

I once saw a Westley-Richards rifle in 303 British which was based on a 95 Mauser action. The magazine was altered to provide an angled surface front and rear to ensure proper loading. It fed and functioned well but I didn't pay much attention to the rail configuration. Getting the 30-30 to feed might require some sheet metal lips to be atached to the existing box but I can't say for sure. I don't think it's a project I would make much money on (that wouldn't be a first)! Regards, Bill

If any of you can think of something to do with these actions, please PM me.
I have a ton of old pitted blasted and blued receivers laying around and want to start doing something with them.
