Is "222 r" a 222 Remington? What weight bullets do you want to shoot. What are "BX" bullets?

BX might mean Barnes X. I would suggest a 1-7! If you choose this the loading data may not be right.

Even with a much larger cartridge a 1-9 will not spin the 80 gr Sierra fast enough when the barrel gets worn.

Better yet just choose the standard 1-14 and use the cartridge with regular bullets for pests and targets which is what it was intended for.

Hi
By 222R I meant 222 remington and BX (barnesX) which are longer than 50 gr standard factory loads. What I want to know is is an optimal twist that can stabilis both types.1in 7 or 9 is may be too fast for factory loads and my brno with 1 in 14 is too slow.
best regards
Danny

You don't say what weight X bullet you are thinking of? Search the GS Bullets site. They show a 1-8 twist for a 60 gr copper bullet at 2500 fps. The addy is long and it don't feel like typing it out. Nor do I approve of using a .222R on game either.

My rifle has a 1-10 twist and it shoots 52 & 53 grain bullets at 3200 fps and gets very good groups at 200 yards. Haven't shot barnes bullets but believe that the custom bullets I am shooting will do better and cost less. Good Luck
