Gents, my wife shoots a Ruger M77 (tang safety) with the factory 40 pound trigger pull. I realize that I really need to change this for her, and seek your advice. Should I send the thing off to a smith for a trigger job, or just order up a Timney and attempt a replacement myself? Thanks for any input. _____________________ A successful man is one who earns more money than his wife can spend.

I would suggest you send it off to a smith for a Timney trigger. Jim Kobe 10841 Oxborough Ave So Bloomington MN 55437 952.884.6031 Professional member American Custom Gunmakers Guild

I on the other hand, would recommend finding someone who knows that trigger and can rework it for you. Those trigger are a breeze to rework. _______________________________________________________________________________ This is my rifle, there are many like it but this one is mine. You can pickup a timney sear and spring from brownells, a basic drop in and they say 2.5 lbs when done. 45.00 + shipping. It is about a wash between that and reworking the trigger.

What fun is that? If they screw something up they won't have anyone to blame. _______________________________________________________________________________ This is my rifle, there are many like it but this one is mine. My rifle is my best friend, it is my life.

That trigger is adjustable. It may require a bit of "cleaning up" but a competent can get it clean and crisp at whatever weight you want down to about one pound.

Now, there's your answer: you can do either one and have a good trigger. Not much help, are we? John Farner If you haven't, please join the NRA!

I routinely put Timneys in all my old Rugers, the original triggers are a POS and incapable of fine tuning to any reliable degree...get a Timney and be done with it...and have a competent smith do the job...don;t mess with triggers yourself...while the smith is at it...jewel the bolt and put a decelerator on that rifle then you' ll have a fine weapon...
