These are the pics of my 7x57 that David Christman is building. It is a pretty straight forward Mexican with double square bridge, Checkered bolt release lever, Blackburn bottom metal, and trigger. Gunmaker,James Anderson did a real nice job on the barrel. The wood is Roger Vardy English from Australia. ...The iron sights have not been done yet. The recase has been done.

"Experience" is the only class you take where the exam comes before the lesson.

butchlambertThanks guys!
We build these to satisfy our egos or whatever. if our peers don't care for our projects, it leaves an empty feeling.
David reshaped the tang and the rear tang screw is blind. I need suggestions on a scope. I was thinking of using a M8-6x42 Leupold.

Bill SovernsVX III 2.5x8 gets my vote.

butchlambertBill, a light just turned on. I can steal the 2.5x8 off one of my Grandson's rifles. He can use the 6x42. He is more interested in other things at this time of his life. He is in permenant rut!

I wanted a slimmer scope, but still a fixed 6x, so I had Leupold build a custom 6X36mm with a few extras and the German #4 rect....I may regret it but I have a gloss finish on it too. I pla on also have a Leupold 2.5X fixed with German #1 custom made in gloss also for the rifle. Each scope will be for the two loads I use.

DMBButch,
The FX 6x42 is a superior scope to the M-8.
I have both.

butchlambertJust in from deer hunting. Got a decent 10 point with a 16" inside measurement. Field dressed 145lbs. My 300 Saum with 180gr. Barnes MRX is a little overkill. Neck shot. Don't really care for turkey, but got a nice one with 11" beard. I think next year the 7x57 will be the ticket.
Thanks for the suggestions on scopes. Initially I will use what I have and keep my eye open for something.
