Guys-

Would like to get some honest opinions on the PT&G Winchester 1 piece bottom metal units.

Now, I know this is not going to be in the same class as Duanes, or Blackburn, or Sunny Hill, etc. however, I'm just looking to spruce up an otherwise factory rifle and was considering their oberndorf unit.

From what I have seen, the trigger guard bow itself looks a little blocky and unrefined, by that can be fixed.

Was more interested in comments around overall machining quality and fit of floor plate, etc.

Any input appreciated.

Expect a big headache if you want something from ptg. If possible, get it through a re-seller like brownells so you can return it when it's not right.

Bought a steel blued bottom metal assembly from PT&G for my Coyote Light WSM and it fit perfectly.

This.

PTG has the ability to make quality products.

Their front office is a disaster.

Their billing is a disaster.

If there is a problem with your item, you might as well eat it and order a new one.

Customer Service is a relative term with PTG. It's not that they are bad folks...just that they are not well organized or set up to do the volume of work that they put out.

I have a 700 Bolt from them that had a very small issue...pocket that the extractor sits in was not deep enough...and we are talking about a few thousandths off... Enough to cause issues getting the extractor over the rim but you could force it closed, damaging the case rim.

That turned into a mess...a big mess...

I would go with a Williams unit well before I went with a PTG.

Jeff will do the inletting to the stock, and if you send the action as well, will check/confirm fit/function for FREE.
Can't beat it with a stick, well worth the postage to send the rifle to him.

CDI seems to be only if you want a detachable magazine bottom.

from their website

I have three PT&G onE Piece bottom metal sets.
Two are Win 70 LA R-handed
One CrMo. One SS

One is SA R-handed Rem 700 in SS
All came with the bottom metal loose and rattling. All were sent back, all were nice and tight upon return.
Five Day turn around. Minimal finishing required
