I'm having a problem when firing my rifle. Win Mod 70. I'm firing reloads and at the very top of the bolt lift (last 1/2") its sticking. By all indications I'm not over pressure ie rounded primers, pockets tight,no brass flow and the first 90% of the lift is easy. opinions are welcomed

Are you full length sizing? Are you bumping the shoulders back when sizing?

When I get a bolt lift problem and it wasn`t from over pressure it was because either I did not resize after too many firings or used the same cases in another rifle and they deformed.Always clean my chamber too when I clean my bore.

It's possible that lapping your primary extraction cam surfaces will solve or at least greatly reduce your problem. Do not try this at home unless your'e VERY experienced, take it to a good smith. Shouldn't cost more than $100 & probably less and you can have him lap your cocking cam surfaces as well, at the same time.

It'll make a HECKUVA difference, believe me!
Regards, Joe

We,BR shooters, see it often. We do shoot pretty hot loads, but the reason is usually the same. I make my own dies now and have eliminated my problem. I size my die cutting reamer .003 smaller at the base and .002 smaller at the shoulder. I also bump the shoulder back .001. The primary problem is the base of the case is too fat.

Thanks I was partial resizing so the large base sounds correct. I'll full length and bump the shoulder as it didn't happen with new brass THANKS
