I could be wrong but are the 1917 Enfield actions large enough to accomodate the .470 capstick. The reason I ask is that I think that I heard the these actions will take the .375 H&H, and the .470 capstick is based on this case.

Yes they will and the pattern 14" If memory is correct" chambered in 303 has the proper head sized bolt for standard belted magnum

The first Capstick was a Hannibal, think Art made two of them, one for Capstick and one for himself. The Hannibals were made on P-14 Enfields. So, to answer the question, yes, you may build one on a Enfield, P-14 or P-17. Needs a new magazine, rail work, and the other usual modifications.
