I'm planning on having a Rem. 700 rebarreled to 358 Win.
I'll also be restocking it. But I've got a few questions.
--What barrel manufacturer should I use?

--I'm looking at McMillan or HS Precision for the stock. Anyone else I should look at?

--Can someone recommend a good 'smith for this?

I've never done anything like this before, so be gentle on me [Wink]

What I hope to end up with is a whitetail rifle that is fairly light (less than 7 lbs.) It'll also be used for hogs and maybe the occasional bear.

I strongly recomend the Lothar Walther barrels. These seem to be the best bang for the buck, by a long shot.

I now have 4 and won't use anyone elses again.

I'd recommend the H-S Precision stock, of the two you named. We can discuss reasons off-forum, if you want.
