| Start by de glossing the existing finish. Try Dupont #7 automotive rubbing compound, water, and super fine steel wool. I think you will find it looks OK with no gloss. After, if you still hate it have at it. |

| you could also use a Citrus Strip product to remove all the finish. They are non hazardous and smell good. They will remove all the finish without any abrasion to the wood. |
