It is drilled and soldered into the side of the receiver. It's sort of an obstructive design.
My question is this. If I have it professionally removed, laser weld the holes up and re-blue the rifle, does it ruin the rifles value? Or is the value ruined when the side of the rifle's was originally drilled and mounted?

If it was done by Griffin and Howe they will remove it for $350.

I recently had one like that with the scope too. It was purchased to use for a rifle build. After thinking about it I put the rifle up for sale. Here is a link to my classified posting in case it might help you some.

The value of the rifle will be severely compromised.

Either way, it is already hosed; just use it for a build. I till never be original again. Welding will fill in the logo anyway.

Does the mount still work reliably? I've heard those mounts were expensive and (with the rifle) may make a collector's item.
