Are the factory triggers on Win. Mod. 70 Super Shadow adjustable? If so, how and how difficult is it to do yourself?

AGI puts out a very good video tape on the Model 70 Winchester trigger. I have watched the video numerous times, and will tell you that one can certainly do their own Model 70 triggers, but on the other hand no tape can tell you what is safe and what is not safe.

In addition, the other thing about Model 70 triggers (take one out and look at it) is that they are very sloppy when attached to the gun. they wiggle from side to side (at least mine do).

Might be best to spend the money with a good Smith to make sure you have a safe job, and also have him put in a larger diameter pin to stop that wiggle!!!

I can speak from experience here.

First < !--color--> , DO NOT get any ideas about putting a Timney in a Winchester. They are a fine trigger, but the Winchester m70 Timney leaves a lot to be desired. Been there done that, won't go back.

Second < !--color--> , Call up a guy named Mark Penrod of (Penrod Precision, 312 E College Ave, North Manhester, IN 46962-1141 Phone: (260) 982-8385). He redid mine, repinned the sloppy trigger and worked the engagement surfaces over. It is, in a word, FANTASTIC. Mark is a super nice guy to talk to, a true gentleman, and a wizard of a gunsmith. I have no doubt whatsoever you'll be happy with his work.

The M 70 Trigger is easy to adjust.

Here are directions.

I agree with Savage99. I adjusted my Winchester a while back using the same directions and found it to be very easy. Just make sure when you're done you thoroughly test ("bump") the rifle a few times to ensure it doesn't set it off accidently. You take the safety of everyone around you into your hands when you make adjustments like this on any rifle. If you have any doubts at all about your ability to do a good job with it, take it to a gunsmith.
