| Can you post a few pictures so we can give you some advice. Sounds like you have a 1917 converted to 300 Win Mag however would need to confirm whether you have a 1917 or a P14. some p14's were converted to 303 Canadian Magnum which is a 308 Norma Mag necked to a .311 bullet so the 303 barrel could be used.
Weighting in at 13.5 lbs makes for a heavy hunting rifle carry. Take the action out of the stock and weigh the metal separate from the wood. Just changing the stock might not give you much of a weight reduction.
There are a few guys around that can alter this rifle for you. These are a very reliable rifle. If you do a search on this site under "Enfield" you can see what others before you have done. |

| Thanks for the quick reply. I will post pictures soon. It is a 1917 and I want to buy maybe a 1917 in 300 H&H and go from there. I don't want to change my dads rifle just make one that shoots his cartridge. Optik1 |

| You want a rifle chambered in his wildcat? If so do you have the reamer?
As usual just my $.02 Paul K

| Custom reamer made to fit your dies will cost you $160 just for the reamer; still want one? |

| Do you have any details on the wildcat cartridge? Are the dies stamped with the caliber? If not do a chamber cast of your Dad's rifle. Once you know what you have you can source a reamer or a source that can cut your new chamber. You should be able to get a lot of important details from you Dad's Enfield...bolt face size, mag box size, follower details, are feed rails reworked and so forth. You maybe further ahead to buy a very good action or better still a model 30 and a new 30 cal barrel in the profile you want for hunting purposes. Just my 2 cents worth. Ron |

| Took the gun out of the safe and decided I will hunt with it as is. The parent cases are 300 H&H, straight walled, or almost, with a rounded shoulder. My dad did this on his metal lathe I believe, in 1954. Same year Roy Weatherby made his first 300 as well. Thanks for all your advice! Optik1 |
