I recently got a Mod 70 in .25-06 with a plastic stock at an RMEF banquet. It really needs bedding bad and I've heard that the standard bedding compounds don't adhere very well.
What has worked well for you?
What Didn't?

Has anyone tried JB Weld with a wax or other release agent? My thought here was it would hold to the plastic well, it is tough and solvent proof.
I have only done bedding a few times before, and always on wood. They came out well enough, (patched one bubble in the first one), and got progressively better. I get the being neat and paying attention to detail, but want to know if there are considerable differences between wood and plastic.

Nate,
in my limited expereince with plastic stock, ( 3 or 4) if you take a dremel tool and score the surface of the plastic, and then dam off the rest of the stock (plumber's putty works well for me) you sould be able to spot/skim bed normally. After all, you are looking for an accuracy improvement, not full contact bedding

wood featherweight stocks run 20-100 bucks on ebay, if you need another one.

Thanks Jeffe,
I am going to try roughing it up before applying anything. I will probably put a stainless steel tube section in the bottom of the forearm to stiffen it up.
I thought sure there'd be more people here who've tried to bed these.

The only Winlite stocks I own that I have bedded are the fibreglass ones made by McMillan. For the tupperware stocks I have, I actually drill a few holes into the bedding area with the Dremel as well as the roughing up, and that seems to anchor the bedding material. So far I've had decent luck with Acraglass, but I have some Devcon I want to try. - Dan

Thanks Guys,
I'm not sure how to tell who made the stock. The forearm seems to flex a little and the tip touches the barrel. Its some flavor of Realtree camo, and the barrel is flat black. I have yet to see one like it anywhere else. It was an RMEF raffle rifle. I saw one in SS that was camo and was wondering if mine was painted / coated.
Never looked into Devcon before. Thanks for the tip on drilling some holes.

I've bedded 7 or 8 of my own and a few for friends over the years. Get rid of the oil and rough up it will hold the bedding materal good enough, drill some holes, same as other suggestions.

As far as your questions, the plastic stocks are probably syren or HDPE or some type of poly plastic. Slick and not porous like wood, got to rough it up good and holes work good.

I've never used JB weld, but it should work, I've used wax a few times it works, Kiwi boot water proffing works pretty good also. I still think that that Acraglass and the release agent that comes with it the way to go. But I've been known to use what I had on hand.
