Greetings, I have a BSRM M1999 from Montana Rifle Company. I am trying to replace the firing pin spring. While it is simple to remove the FP assy from the bolt, it is not clear to me what the right process is or steps are to replace the firing pin spring. If anyone could give me a few hints here, it would be most appreciated. Regards, re5513

OK. In case anyone else needs the information. There is a small ring and washer on the forward end of the firing pin. Depress the spring and remove the washer and C-Clip. Then remove the firing pin. Note, at this point it is advisable to check the fit of the firing pin to the firing pin hole in the bolt. On some M1999 actions, this is very tight and/or rough and can lead to problems with reliable ignition as the rough/tight fit prematurely slows down the firing pin enough to where the primer hits can be light. If necessary, polish and clean the FP and FP port in the bolt. To install the FP spring just reverse the removal process. If you use a heavier 40lb Wolf spring you may want to enlist the help of a friend to put back the washer and C-Clip. re5513.
