Has anyone had Douglas rebarrel a rifle?

I’m thinking about sending in my M70 7mm STW for a rebarrel to 416 Rem. Any reason not to do that?

I use only Douglas barrels and they are the best barrels made, in many ways. And they are also the easiest and most friendly to deal with; everything is done on a personal basis. I have never had them do the fitting job, although they do that.
So just call Stan, who is totally knowledgeable, and a really nice guy, and he will talk you through the process. They have a web site, but they do all business in person. I know, old ways. I have them on speed dial because I order barrels every 8 or 12 weeks. They cut a lot of custom contours for me, and they have many factory contours in their CNC lathes. As well as their own traditional contours.

Any reason not to? Definitely none.

Tex, I did based on DPCD’s reviews. I sent a Model 70 Push Feed down to Stan via UPS. I live about 4 hours away so Stan had it in a day. I had a call back in week for my credit card. Two days later I had the rifle.
Stan did a 6 mm Remington in a REM. Varmint contour. This rifle shoots as good as any other custom that I own and has not copper fouled. I would not hesitate to send another down there.

I too had Douglas rebarrel a Mauser for me some time ago. They were very fast as I got it back in 2 weeks. I’ve been using Tom (dpcd) since then. Couldn’t be happier.

Never had them barrel one of mine. But have shot several of their barrels and would use them in a heartbeat for anything barrel related without worry.

Listen to Tom (dpcd). I've considered Stan to be a friend for some time. He is also a competitive long range shooter.

Douglas Bbl was in the area I patrolled at one time. The guys there are all great, plus there is a daily parade of characters that stop by for a while just to chat every morning. It’s amazing what that crew knows about metal and they seem to build on that knowledge every time I visit (now retired and on my own time).

Douglas (Stan spec’d it, the guys in back turned it) put a .416 Remington barrel on a rifle for me several years ago that seems to labor under the delusion it’s a varmint barrel.
