Gents:

As part of the LH Zastava group buy, I am wondering if this will work for a replacement safety:

or this:

does anyone know if this is offered in LH?

Thanks.

As far as I know the Dakota is not offered in left. You normally need a longer locking pin for the Dakota on the MKX (Zastava) bolt to lock it. Dakota will (or at least has in the past) send you one. Never put a gentry on the Zastava.

Key issue will if the bolts on the new actions have the speedlock style bolt. Bolt on the right in the picture.

If it does the front edge of the cocking piece is further forward and will need more machining.

As usual just my $.02

I am actually looking at this as an opportunity to put a RH safety on a LH rifle where it seems more natural for the thumb to operate.

I had actually raised that question in my reply. However after thinking about it I deleted that portion. While the safety lever simply turns in front of the cocking piece meaning it could work from either side. I "BELIEVE" the threads on the shroud turn in opposite direction. One left hand one right hand. If you look closely at your two pictures I believe that is the case.

A right hand safety will not fit a left hand Zastava action. Everything but the barrel thread is reversed. I just fitted a Gentry left handed to a Charles Daly (Zastava) action. The cocking piece will not clear the rear of the Gentry sleeve for assembly unless the supplied action mainspring is shortened or a spring from an mid length action is used. I suppose the Gentry could be ground for clearance but changing the spring worked for me. BTW, the action referred to only had one locking lug making contact. The bottom lug (solid) as supplied made no contact at all. Two hours of lapping got me to 100% and about 80%. Something to keep in mind and check on these lefty's.
