It is 3M outdoor stairway tape. I would think you could cut it to any shape $7 a roll. What do you think? Here is a much easier approach to the same idea. ________________________________________________ Maker of The Frankenstud Sling Keeper Proudly made in the USA Acepting all forms of payment

I've seen it used before, a little utilitarian even for me. That particular pattern is too high on my homophobe scale (gay-o-meter)!

What do you sugguest? The pattern I used is a combination of two well used checkering patterns. Odd "Gay" I never thought hmmmmm. ________________________________________________ Maker of The Frankenstud Sling Keeper Proudly made in the USA Acepting all forms of payment

I used to think there was nothing you could to do hurt the image of a laminated stock. I guess I was wrong. To each his own. Brent When there is lead in the air, there is hope in my heart -- MWH ~1996

Hey Ted, Interesting idea. Do you think there will be any problem with the "edges" rolling up with use?

I think it is kind of cool. probably wouldn't do it myself, but I think it looks good on that stock. Brownells used to sell a clear laquer that had sand in it- sold it in spray cans. similar to the adhesive-backed application above, I textured the grip and forearm areas on an old .22 target rifle I spiffed up a little.

As far as the edges rolling they probably will. This is just an off season experiment. This stock is slippery when wet and that is when I carry this rifle....rain, snow, sleet ect. I am going to cut many different styles in the months to come I have no intentions of makeing this a permanent addition to this gun. Just for hunting but might as well play with the design until November. ________________________________________________ Maker of The Frankenstud Sling Keeper Proudly made in the USA Acepting all forms of payment

I think you guys are being a little hard on Ted. I would rather have a removable grip surface than fuzzed out checkering. However, when using a utilitarian system it is probably better to stick with a utilitarian pattern.

I wish tigertate had some big pieces of that stuff on his 550Mag the last time he had it up here.(lam. stocked) Damn thing nearly jumped out of my hands when I shot it. I guess that is to be expected with over 115 lbs of recoil and no textured surfaces. Hey Ted, The very best Hunting Buddy I've ever had was also blessed with the gift of constantly "trying new things". Sometime they worked great and were incorporated into our regular Hunting, others were soon left behind. It seems like you've found an excellent alternative to Checkering. And I'd be interested in hearing how it goes as you progress in your Testing. Your ability to just cut out such an intricate pattern is even interesting to me. As I sit here thinking what it would look like if "I" Best of luck with it. You may replace "Checkering" Termite Food as a thing of the past.
