Just a thought, but I saw in an ad that the winchester short action is 7 5/8 ,same as mex, was wondering if anyone has tried to fit the mex in a winchester short action stock, mainly wonder where bolt notch would fall. I realize with filler ,inleting , and a paint job anything is possible. ( thinking about synthetic stock of course).

tang wouldn't fit right, and bottom metal is hopeless -- i tried it. if you put enough filler? probably .. don't use bondo

I did fit a ULA stock to a mexican mauser... since it was to be camoed' i didn't care .. worked out ok.. and VERY light.. <7# 358 winchester
