jsl3170vz 24 price check
gents:
found a guy here with 4 vz 24s for sale @149 each. he says the crests have all been ground off as has the bluing but indicates there is no pitting on any of the actions although I have not seen one yet.
is 149 a fair price?
thanks,
Jeff

craigsterIf they are in the condition you describe, yes, a very fair price.

new_guyHave the front rings been surface ground, or were the Romanian crests "scrubbed" by Russians?
Either way, $149 is a good price with no pitting and good, CZ bolt.
18 June 2010, 22:51
jsl3170chris, he says he thinks they were scrubbed by the Russians.
22wrf, sloppiness of the bolt meaning what precisely? aren't all Mauser battle rifles kinda sloppy in the bolt by design?
18 June 2010, 23:03
jeffeossosloppy in the bolt means they are mauser 98s.
18 June 2010, 23:19
jsl3170so, too sloppy means a no go and sorta sloppy is a green light??
19 June 2010, 01:21

BrandoI paid $250 for mine in stock trim, it was a long action chambered for 300 Rem Mag, and it had a touch of Kimber with a bent bolt handle for scope clearance and also a set of drilled and tapped holes for scope mounting.
21 June 2010, 06:18
jsl3170ok i saw them. only 2 left and both had the crest ground off though on one you could still see a little bit. neither had any pitting on them. bolt on the first had hardly any slop while the second was a little sloppy.
since i don't plan to buy them i have the shop owner's permission to provide his contact data if anyone is interested to contact him and i'm sure he could send pics to you.
feel free to pm if interested. price still $149

Fal GruntIf the actions have no pitting and are complete, they are certainly worth the $150.
If you are just looking for an action to build a semi-custom rifle on, the Century rifles work, or JG Sales has Brazilian Mauser's for sale complete for $140.
