Koa ; As well as other woods . I Have NO Affiliation with ANY OF THEM !. Here is a source possibly close by your city for Domestic and exotic woods . The last link is a listing of thicker materials as it's for wood turners . They are an excellent knowledge source for " Different Woods " and where to pick it up . Try your local wood turners guild . It's been better than 25 years since I supplied woods , only a handful would even know I had anything to do with it purveying Hardwoods for their businesses . As I worked for the " Largest " Hardwood lumber suppliers in the world .I didn't peddle ( No Sales ) the products . I knew some owners personally when I started out , however have serious doubts if many are still alive . Except Greg & Mitch !. http://www.volcanogallery.com/aboutkoa.htm Sources http://www.turningwood.com/sources.htm http://www.exotichardwoods-eurasia.com/koa.htm http://www.woodturners.org/links/links.html http://www.cutanddriedhardwood.com/lumber/lumber.htm http://www.macbeath.com/ http://www.anexotichardwood.com/ http://www.oldtreegunblanks.com/accent.php http://www.oldworldwalnut.com/ http://www.wineland-walnut.com/ http://www.luxusgunstock.com/ http://www.hardtofindwood.com/home/species-walnut http://www.wrightsguns.com/ This is a fairly reliable listing of sources for about any kind of wood or tooling you might need . http://www.woodturners.org/links/links.html I would like to know how you feel about #3 piece lamination stocks ?. This is simply a question out of curiosity as perhaps not everyone can afford a $ 2,500.00 plus stock blank . http://www.serengetistockworks.com/ Shoot Straight Know Your Target . ...

Dr, K - If you are referring to a blank where the middle ply is about twice the thickness of each of the other two, and selected for both strength and "workability", with the outer two layers selected mainly for appearance, then I very much like such blanks. I think they can be affordable, practical, and pretty.

AC ; Yes that's what I was referring to . I like laminate stocks of various woods and colors also , On certain rifles . Does anyone know the company in I think it's Missouri ? , that is making those types of blanks ?. I believe they use carbon fiber and epoxy between the laminates . It is S&K Gunstocks who uses this method . I saw a fellow who had a stock like that and it looked very nice . Unfortunately he purchased the rifle as a unit and was unaware of where it came from . ( Someone posted me about Koa as a stock worthy wood ) Yes it is !. I'm sorry the PM went haywire an I was unable to PM post you back !. So come out of the closet and read the above posting for info . You can remain anonymous so no one will beat up on you for being BOLD and Adventurous !. Shoot Straight Know Your Target . ...

I've use a couple laminates from Serengetti. I was fairly satisfied with the last two,,,there was two thin laminates in the center and wider on either side. I had furnised matching wood, but somehow, the inerior laminates were not the wood I furnished...looked OK, but could have been very hard to detect seams...little disappointed!

I would like your opinion on a blank using 3 equal pieces with carbon fiber an epoxy sandwiching both outers to the center piece . Do you like the Idea ?. Mind you this is light cloth 1-1/2 O/Z so no big reveal line . For lighter wood I'll use Kevlar as it's yellow , or S Glass which would be transparent . Shoot Straight Know Your Target . ...
