I have three Savage/Stevens semi-customs. All use the barrel nut. IMHO the Savage action lends itself well to re-barrel or re-chamber. I have done both with what I consider great success. I have a 250/3000, a 257Roberts, and a 220Swift all on Savage actions "with" barrel nut.

I have used the nut on all of mine, but I don't have a lathe. Thats why I have used Savages.
