It does have a barrel shroud and IIRC it is essentially held on with an adhesive. Barrel itself just threads in. A few years ago they were still in business so finding a barrel should not be too difficult. Dave In 100 years who of us will care? An armed society is a polite society! Just because they say you are paranoid doesn't mean they are not out to get you.

Ok, the Bulldogs 44 barrels are one piece, since about 1980; and are screwed on; Numrich has them for $68. I knew the Son of Sam killer; worked with him in the Army. True story.

This one has a shroud for sure I should be able to screw the old one off and the new one on? I take it they have a right hand thread

I don't know if the threads are the same for the old ones and the newer one piece ones, but they might be. Yes he used a Charter Arms .44 Bulldog. I knew Specialist David Berkowitz; he was a personnel clerk in the Battalion S1 office, directly across the hall from me in the S3 office. I saw him every day for a year; he was a nice guy.

You might check with Charter on the replacement cost. I sent a .38 SPL back a few years ago and got a very reasonable barrel repair charge - read "free". They have lifetime warranties.

I went to school from 3rd grade thru HS with Susan Atkins, one of Charlie Manson's minions involved in the Tate/LaBianca murders. Evan as a little kid I sensed there was something not right with her.

I turn the old barrel off with out any problem I most likely just order one from Gunparts corp. and see what happens.

I replaced the barrel with a 3 inch from gun parts corp fairly easy job had to make a .012 spacer shim to properly set the barrel. After that cly gap is fine goes bang every shot.
